Description:
Mr. Majors died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Majors was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church. He was born in Searcy, Ark., February 18, 1930, to Henry and Clotine Majors. Mr. Majors graduated from Searcy High School in 1948 and moved to Longview to live with his aunt and uncle, the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dedman. He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served with the first marine division in Korea. 

Mr. Majors was one of the "Chosen Few" and received many honors while serving his country. He returned home to work for Dedman Electric until the Dedman's retirement. Mr. Majors worked as a vice president and construction manager for Cobb Southwest Electric and also worked at Morton Thikol until his retirement. Mr. Majors worked extensively with little league baseball and football. He had several city championships. Mr. Majors also helped organize the boy's basketball at First United Methodist Church and won several city championships. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge, Men's Bible Class, VFW No.1183, Marine Corps League, American Legion, and Longview Museum. 

Mr. Majors loved hunting, but had to give that up because of ill health. He dealt with blindness and heart disease for the past 12 years. Mr. Majors loved to cook and have friends and neighbors come over to eat. He was known as Mr. "V", the neighborhood baby-sitter. 

Mr. Majors was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jimmie Majors. Mr. Majors is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda; one son, Danny Majors, and his wife Shonda of Spring; three granddaughters, Morgan Majors of Louisiana Tech, Chelsey Majors of Spring, and Heather and Justin Mays of Katy; one great-grandson, Grayson Mays of Katy; one sister, Katie Majors Hill of Longview; nephews and wives, David and Robin Majors of Valencia Calif., Steve and Sheryl Majors of Broken Arrow, Okla.; special sister-in-law, Nelda Majors Burnett of Tulsa, Okla.; extended family members, David and Azelea Lee of Longview, Mike and Kathy Campbell of Longview, Daniel and Gigi Sim of Jackson, Tenn.; and other special nieces and nephews all of Longview.
